Williams Makes Top 10

STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford sophomore Kiana Williams has made the list of 10 candidates for the 2019 Ann Meyers Drysdale Award, which recognizes the top shooting guard in women's college basketball.

A national committee comprising of top college basketball personnel determined the watch list of 20 candidates in October, which has now been narrowed to just 10. In March, five finalists will be presented to Ms. Meyers Drysdale and the Hall of Fame's selection committee. Fans will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite finalist at www.hoophallawards.com.

The winner of the 2019 Ann Meyers Drysdale Award will be revealed on an ESPN platform during the 2019 Women's Final Four in Tampa, Florida.

Williams is second on the team in scoring (14.3 points per game) and has had four of her five 20-point games this season in conference.

She had her first career double-double with 21 points and 10 assists in a Jan. 6 win against UCLA, Stanford's first 20-point, 10-assist double-double since Jeanette Pohlen had 21 and 12 in a win over USC on Jan. 22, 2011. It was also the Cardinal's first individual 10-assist effort since Marta Sniezek had that many in the 2016-17 season opener against Cal Poly on Nov. 11, 2016.

Williams is averaging 4.7 assists per game, which is eighth in the conference. No Stanford player has averaged 4.5 assists in a season since Pohlen in 2010-11 (4.8) and no one has averaged 5.0 since Nicole Powell in 2001-02 (6.3).

Williams and the No. 10 Cardinal are on the road this weekend when they play at UCLA on Friday (6 p.m.) and USC on Sunday (noon).
