STANFORD, Calif. – Six Stanford runners were named to the All-Academic cross country team by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
Stanford's Tai Dinger, Grant Fisher, Alex Ostberg, and Alek Parsons of the Pac-12 champion men's team, and All-Americas Elise Cranny and Fiona O'Keeffe of the Cardinal women's team received All-Academic recognition.
Cranny, a fifth-year senior, earned her sixth USTFCCCA All-Academic award in cross country and track. She also was a two-time Academic All-American and an NCAA postgraduate scholarship recipient. She also finished her collegiate career as a 12-time All-American and two-time Pac-12 track champion. Her eligibility ended with an 11th-place NCAA cross country finish and Cranny recently signed with the Nike Bowerman Track Club.
Fisher, the NCAA cross country runner-up, is a four-time All-Academic honoree. The past two years, he was named the Scholar-Athlete of the Year and was runner-up for that honor this season. Fisher is a nine-time All-American and the 2017 NCAA outdoor 5,000 champ.
Cranny and Fisher were the 2018 Pac-12 cross country Scholar-Athletes of the Year.
This is the second third cross country All-Academic honor for O'Keeffe, second for Ostberg and Parsons, and first for Dinger.
To qualify, runners must have earned All-America honors at the NCAA Championships (top 40) or placed among the top 25 at an NCAA regional, and have a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.3.
