STANFORD, Calif. – Makenzie Fischer scored a career-high eight goals and Stanford continued its early-season offensive roll with a 21-9 win over No. 8 Michigan to kick off the Stanford Invitational on Saturday morning.

The Cardinal (4-0) continues its home tournament against No. 19 Indiana at 4:30 p.m. in what will serve as the MPSF opener for both schools.

Stanford jumped out to a 7-1 lead after one quarter. Kat Klass and Fischer each scored in the 6-in-5 to get things going and then even-strength goals from Fischer and her younger sister Aria pushed the lead to 4-0. Sofie Pontre was whistled for a penalty late in the quarter and Madison Stamen buried the shot from five meters with 11 seconds left in the period.

The Cardinal tacked on three more to begin the second, two from Aria Fischer and one from Makenzie, before the Wolverines ended a 10-minute drought with a goal at 2:04 to make it 10-2 Stanford. Sarah Klass rattled the cage with just over a minute to go before halftime and Stanford was up 11-2 at the half.

The teams traded goals in the third quarter, with Stanford's four coming from Ryann Neushul, Makenzie Fischer, Aria Fischer and Hannah Shabb.
