Men's Watch List Opens in a new window Women's Watch List Opens in a new window

STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford's Grant Fisher and Mackenzie Little were named to the Pre-NCAA Indoor watch lists for The Bowerman, collegiate track and field's highest annual honor.

The lists are 10 deep for each of the men's and women's awards. Little and Fisher hope to become Stanford's first finalists since Kori Carter in the women's division in 2013.

Fisher, a senior electrical engineering major, will be racing in the 3,000 meters and anchoring Stanford's distance medley relay team at the NCAA Indoor Championships on March 8-9 in Birmingham, Alabama.

Fisher broke Galen Rupp's American collegiate record while winning the 3,000 at the Millrose Games in New York City on Feb. 9. Fisher's time of 7:42.62 makes him the fourth-fastest collegian all-time indoors, regardless of nationality. Fisher also became the first collegian to win that event at Millrose in four years.

Last week, Fisher anchored Stanford to victory in the distance medley relay at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships. In this past cross country season, he captured his second consecutive Pac-12 title and led the Cardinal to a repeat conference team championship. He was the NCAA cross country runner-up and a three-time NCAA top-five individual placer.

He won the NCAA outdoor men's 5,000-meter crown in 2017 and was third in the event last year. Fisher owns nine All-America honors in track and cross country and is a three-time USTFCCCA Scholar-Athlete of the Year. He also was honored as the 2018 Pac-12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year in cross country.

Little, a senior human biology major, is the reigning NCAA women's javelin champion, throwing a school-record 198-0 (60.36 meters) to capture the title ahead of runner-up teammate Jenna Gray last year. Little has three NCAA top-seven finishes and is a three-time Pac-12 winner and three-time first-team outdoor All-America.

Little is the only member of the women's watch list who has yet to compete this year. Her NCAA title throw made her the fifth-best performer in the event all-time.

Stanford opens the outdoor campaign at Sacramento State's Hornet Invitational on March 15-16.

The next Bowerman Watch List will be released by the USTFCCCA on March 13, following the conclusion of the NCAA Indoor Championships.
