Card Bounces Back

LA JOLLA, Calif. – Led by senior Jordan Ewert, No. 8 Stanford bounced back Saturday with a 25-18, 25-19, 25-20 sweep over UC San Diego at RIMAC Arena.
 
The Cardinal picked up its first road win of the season and improved to 13-7 overall. Stanford hit .387 as a team and held UC San Diego (6-13) to a .128 clip.
 
Ewert had a team-high 11 kills on .588 hitting to go with three digs and three blocks. Sophomore outside hitter Jaylen Jasper added eight kills, while junior opposite Eli Wopat chipped in with seven.
 
Setter Paul Bischoff tallied 19 assists, five digs and was 3-0-3 (1.000) offensively in two sets played. Senior Russell Dervay took over setting duties in the third and finished with 11 assists and three digs.
 
Senior middle blocker Chris Moore played in two set and recorded a match-high four blocks. As a team, Stanford out blocked UC San Diego 10.0 to 5.0.
 
Redshirt senior libero Kyle Dagostino seven digs to anchor the Stanford defense.
 
UC San Diego was led by Collin Shannon, who registered a team-best 11 kills on .320 hitting and three blocks.
 
Stanford returns to The Farm next week for its final two regular season matches at home. The Cardinal hosts No. 6 Pepperdine on Thursday and No. 5 UCLA on Saturday for Senior Night.
