STANFORD, Calif. – Madison Berggren scored a career-high five goals in just three quarters, Aria Fischer added four and No. 2 Stanford returned from its finals break with a 20-7 win over No. 18 Harvard on Saturday afternoon.

The Cardinal (13-1) raced out to a 6-1 lead after one quarter with a balanced attack that featured six different goal scorers – Hannah Shabb, Madison Stamen, Fischer, Kat Klass, Berggren and Chloe Harbilas.

Stanford was up six at the break, 9-3, before nearly doubling its first-half offensive output in just the third period. The Cardinal rattled the cage eight times coming out of halftime and was up 17-6 through 24 minutes.

Berggren, who tied her previous career high with four goals in her last game against Santa Clara on March 1, did herself one better on Saturday with five against the Crimson.

Fischer scored four for the fourth times this season, including two on back-handed attempts from two meters. She also added three assists, two steals, a field block and three earned exclusions in the victory, which upped its record against Harvard to 5-0 all-time.

As a team the Cardinal had 11 steals, with Sarah Klass and Ryann Neushul each nabbing a pair in addition to Fischer's two. Freshman Chloe Harbilas had two of her team's five field blocks to go along with two scores.

Emalia Eichelberger was in the cage for the first half and made five saves. Thea Walsh played the third and fourth quarters for the Cardinal and made six stops.

Stanford is back in the water on Monday at 12:30 p.m. when it hosts No. 10 UC Irvine at Avery Aquatic Center. Kevin Danna and Kami Craig will have the call on Pac-12 Networks in what is the Cardinal's first of three consecutive televised matches.
