  • Stanford is 87-30 all-time in the NCAA Tournament and won its 20th consecutive first-round game on Saturday in beating UC Davis, 79-54.
  • The Cardinal is 37-4 all-time in NCAA Tournament games at Maples Pavilion and has won 17 straight. Its last loss came to Florida State, 68-61, in the Second Round on March 19, 2007.
  • Stanford has advanced to the Sweet 16 for 11 consecutive years and hasn't lost a game on the first weekend of the tournament since 2007.
  • A victory against BYU would be Stanford's 30th on the year. The Cardinal has 14 30-win seasons to its name, including seven straight from 2008-14. Its last 30-win campaign was the season of its most recent Final Four appearance in 2016-17.
  • Stanford is 2-2 all-time against BYU, but the teams have only played once in the last 27 seasons, a 55-52 Cougar win on Nov. 13, 2006 as part of the Preseason WNIT in Maples Pavilion.
  • Haley Hall banked in a go-ahead 3-pointer with 16.5 seconds left and the shot clock expiring and Stanford then missed three chances to score from close range, lifting No. 24 BYU to an upset of the fourth-ranked Cardinal.
  • The Cougars closed the game on an 18-2 run over the final 7:23.
  • Stanford won at home, 105-64, in the Cardinal Classic on Dec. 21, 1990 and 84-83 in Provo on Nov. 28, 1987. BYU won the teams' first meeting on Jan. 15, 1987 at Stanford, 94-82.
  • Stanford is in the midst of a 10-game winning streak, its second-longest of the season. The Cardinal won 11 consecutive games from Dec. 15 to Jan. 25. Its current stretch is tied with Notre Dame for the fourth-longest active streak in the nation. Baylor has won 24 in a row, South Dakota State 17 and Connecticut 14 (through games as of March 23).
  • The Cardinal is 26-0 this season when holding its opponent under 70 points and 24-0 when limiting them to less than 40.0 percent shooting.
  • Since her role increased as a sophomore, Alanna Smith has averaged 17.1 points per game in nine NCAA Tournament games over the past three seasons, which is ninth in the country among active players (minimum five games played). Arike Ogunbowale (23.5), Napheesa Collier (21.3), Asia Durr (19.8), Jessica Shepard (19.4), Ruthy Hebard (18.6), Sabrina Ionescu (18.6), Leaonna Odom (18.0) and Kalani Brown (17.8) are the only other active players averaging over 17.0 points per game in the NCAA Tournament since 2016-17.
  • In Saturday's win over UC Davis, Smith scored 21 points to move into 10th on Stanford's all-time scoring list (1,653), passing Jennifer Azzi (1,634) and Trisha Stevens (1,649). It was her third career 20-point scoring game in the NCAA Tournament. All three of those have come in the Cardinal's last four NCAA Tournament games.
  • Smith's third and final 3-pointer against the Aggies was the 150th of her career, which moved her into some exclusive company. She became just the fourth NCAA women's basketball player over the past 20 seasons to put together careers of 1,600 points, 200 blocks and 150 3-pointers, joining Maya Moore, Elena Delle Donne and Breanna Stewart.
  • Smith, who has 76 triples, 76 blocks and 649 points this year is the only NCAA women's basketball player to accumulate 70 3-pointers, 70 blocks and 600 points in a season in the last 20 years. It has been done once on the men's side during that span, by Shane Battier for Duke in 2000-01 (124 3-pointers; 88 blocks; 778 points).
  • Smith and Kiana Williams each made three from behind the arc against UC Davis. Smith is now 12th in Stanford single-season history in that category (76) and Williams is sixth (84). Williams' 155 career made 3-pointers are  10th among Power 5 conference players the past two seasons.
  • After hosting two games on Saturday, Maples Pavilion passed Tennessee's Thompson-Boling Arena as the most-used NCAA Tournament venue. Maples has now hosted 72 tournament games and Thompson-Boling Arena 71.
  • The Cardinal is a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament for the 12th time and first since 2017. Stanford has gone on to reach the Final Four as a No. 2 seed six times (1991, 1995, 2008, 2009, 2014, 2017), defeating the No. 1 seed in the regional final in 1991 (Georgia), 2008 (Maryland) and 2017 (Notre Dame).
  • Stanford, which has advanced to the Final Four in seven of the last 11 seasons, is 177-13 (.932) in Maples Pavilion since 2007-08 and has the fourth-best home winning percentage over that span behind Connecticut (.976), Baylor (.964) and FGCU (.934).
