STONY BROOK, N.Y. – A career-high six goals from sophomore Ali Baiocco and career-best 12 saves from sophomore Trudie Grattan led No. 22 Stanford women's lacrosse to a 15-12 victory at No. 10 Stony Brook on Sunday afternoon.
It marked the program's first road victory over a top 10 opponent since 2015 as Stanford (4-1) swept its East Coast trip and won its fourth in a row. The win also halted Stony Brook's 33-game home winning streak at LaValle Stadium, which dated back to 2016.
Senior Areta Buness scored all three of her goals in a second half comeback, including the eventual game-winner with 6:24 remaining.

Stanford scored the first three goals and jumped out to a 5-1 lead following Baiocco's free position goal with 10:22 remaining in the half.
However, the hosts responded with six of the last seven goals in the first half and took a 7-6 lead at intermission.
Stony Brook (2-2) took a 10-8 lead early in the second half, but Baiocco scored 25 seconds apart to tie the game at 10-10 with 17:24 to play.
Sophomore Galen Lew gave the Cardinal the lead, 11-10, on a free position goal with 13:59 remaining, and Buness extended that advantage to 12-10 at the 11:19 mark.
The Seawolves answered with back-to-back goals and the game was tied with 7:51 to go.
After Buness scored the go-ahead goal, Stanford never relinquished the lead again. Junior Jacie Lemos and Baiocco added some insurance in the final minutes, and senior Julia Massaro won back-to-back draw controls to ice the game.
