KINGS POINT, N.Y. / LONG BEACH, Calif. - Stanford sailing won the Pacific Coast Collegiate Sailing Conference (PCCSC) Women's championship and made a furious comeback on the final day to claim the Admiral's Cup over the weekend.

Stanford won its 15th straight women's conference title and qualified for the ICSA Sperry Women's National Championship, May 21-24 in Newport, R.I. The Cardinal won with 55 points to beat out USC and UCSB, who finished in a tie for second with 69 points apiece.

In the A divsion, Stanford was second with 28 points, just one behind USC. Skipper Stephanie Houck and crews Taylor Kirkpatrick and Ashton Borcherding combined to win five of the 10 races, and never finished lower than fifth among the 10 teams.

The Cardinal was equally successful in the B division with just 27 points. Skippers Sophia Sole and Camille White and crews Cassie Obel and Madeline Bubb led Stanford to a first-place finish -- one-point better than UCSB. They won four races and added a pair of runner-up performances.

At the Admiral's Cup, Stanford was in sixth-place among 18 teams after the first day of competition but roared back for a two-point victory over Dartmouth. It came down to the 16th and final race, but Stanford prevailed with 199 points, while the Big Green were second with 201 and St. Mary's College of Maryland was third with 206.

Stanford was third in the A division with 105 points. Skipper Romain Screve and crew John Kirkpatrick took the first eight races, while Sammy Pickell served as crew for much of the second day along with Mathew Hogan. To help complete the comeback, Screve and Pickell finished first and second in the final two races, respectively.

Meanwhile, in the B division, Stanford was second with 94 points. Skipper Wiley Rogers, along with crew Victoria Thompson and Hogan, won two races and added a second- and third-place finish during the second day surge.

Stanford returns to the water for the PCCSC Coed Championships on April 27-28 in Long Beach, Calif. The three ICSA national championship regattas are to be held May 21-31 in Newport, Rhode Island.
