TUCSON, Ariz. – Powered by runner-up finishes Sunday by Jessica Lawson, Fiona O'Keeffe, and Rachel Reichenbach, the Stanford women placed fourth at the Pac-12 Track and Field Championships at Roy P. Drachman Stadium.

Grant Fisher was second in two events Sunday, the 1,500 meters and 5,000, to help the Stanford men place eighth, with 51 points. The Stanford women scored 85.

Stanford now heads to the NCAA West Prelims on May 23-25 at Sacramento State. It's the final qualifier for the NCAA Championships June 5-8 in Austin, Texas.

Stanford captured two titles on the first day of the two-day competition, with repeat victories by Mackenzie Little in the javelin – her fourth title – and Steven Fahy in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase.

Fisher, who is expected to focus on the 5,000 at NCAA's, ran 3:49.29 in the 1,500 to place second to Arizona State's William Paulson, at 3:49.18. In the 5,000, Oregon's Cooper Teare finished just ahead of Fisher and Fahy.

The women's 1,500 final featured four Stanford runners, with Lawson leading the way in 4:17.03. Teammate Ella Donaghu was third in a season-best 4:17.83, Julia Heymach was sixth, and O'Keeffe was seventh before completing her own 1,500-5,000 double.

O'Keeffe went on to finish second to Colorado's Dani Jones in the 5,000. O'Keeffe took the lead on a move that began with 200 meters left, only for Jones to respond with a kick that overtook O'Keeffe with 80 meters to go.
