NFCA All-Region Teams Opens in a new window

STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford placed two players on the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division I All-Region teams on Thursday, as junior Teaghan Cowles and senior Carolyn Lee earned a spot on the third team at outfield and pitcher, respectively.

The third-team selection marks the second in as many years for Cowles, while Lee was selected for the first time in her career. Cowles was picked as a third baseman last year, but transitioned to the outfield for the 2019 season.

The Pac-12 garnered 38 total honorees.

Cowles enters postseason play hitting .377 to sit 12th in the Pac-12. The team leader with 19 multi-hit games, Cowles has hit safely in 37 of 50 games this year, including 31 of the last 40 overall. The native of Ridgefield, Wash. was named Pac-12 and Louisville Slugger/NFCA National Player of the Week on March 5 after hitting .818 with an .889 on-base percentage and 1.455 slugging percentage at the Stanford Invitational. She also garnered Pac-12 Player of the Week on April 1.

Lee currently ranks 12th in the Pac-12 in ERA at 3.36. A native of San Ramon, Calif., she is also 10th in strikeouts (104) and 11th in victories (11). The team leader in strikeouts with 104, she is second on the squad in wins with 11.

The awards honor softball student-athletes from the Association's 10 regions with first, second and third teams selected for each region. The all-region teams were voted on by NFCA member coaches from each respective region, and all the honorees now become eligible for selection to one of three 2019 NFCA Division I All-American teams.

The 2019 NFCA Division I All-America teams will be announced at approximately 2 p.m. PT on Wednesday, May 29, via NFCA.org.

The Cardinal returns to action this Friday when it meets Boise State at 9 a.m. PT at the Gainesville Regional hosted by fifth-seed Florida. Stanford is making its 17th appearance in an NCAA regional, including the first since 2013.
