Three to France

STANFORD, Calif. – Former Cardinal Tierna Davidson, Kelley O'Hara and Christen Press have been named to the United States' roster for the 2019 World Cup in France.

Davidson, the No. 1 pick in this year's NWSL Draft by the Chicago Red Stars, is the youngest player in the squad at age 20. In 2017, Davidson played nearly every minute of Stanford's national championship-winning season, earning All-America and Pac-12 Defender of the Year honors. She owns 19 caps and one goal with the national team after making her debut against Denmark on Jan. 21, 2018. Davidson is the youngest-ever defender to make the United States' World Cup roster and the youngest American to feature in a World Cup since 1995.

O'Hara has 115 national team caps and two national team goals to her name after featuring for the Cardinal from 2006-09. In 2009, she became Stanford's first-ever winner of the MAC Hermann Trophy, finishing her career on The Farm third, all-time, in points (146) and goals (57). This will be O'Hara's third appearance in a FIFA World Cup.

Press enters the World Cup, her second with the United States, with 47 goals in 113 national team caps after four seasons at Stanford (2007-10), becoming the Cardinal's second consecutive Hermann Trophy winner in 2010. Press is the program's all-time leader in points (183), goals (71), assists (41) and shots (500) in 98 total appearances.

The Stars and Stripes' quest for a third World Cup begins June 11 against Thailand in Reims, France, followed by a matchup against Chile on June 16 in Paris and the Group F finale against Sweden on June 20 in Le Havre.
