Jones scored 4,980 points and was second among freshmen in the seven-event two-day competition.
Jones got off to a strong start, with the second-best mark in the opening event, the 100 hurdles, of 14.15. She went to earn lifetime bests in the high jump (5-3 3/4, 1.62 meters) and the 200 (25.30). She finished the four-even first day in seventh, with 3,154 points.
On Sunday, Jones lost some ground in the long jump, though her javelin and 800 were not far off her top marks.
