GOLD RIVER, Calif. — Stanford completed day one of racing at the IRA Championships Saturday morning, with all three of its boats completing races for lanes at the Lake Natoma course.
Stanford's varsity eight won its regatta-opening race, clocking a 6:29.234. The Cardinal led from start to finish. The crew will race in the grand final Sunday morning at 10:40 a.m., looking to defend its crown.
The Cardinal's varsity four also placed first in its race for lanes with a time of 7:09.033. Stanford's grand final is set for 8:42 a.m. tomorrow morning.
The lightweight double placed fourth in the first race of the morning with a time of 7:51.478. The crew will kick off grand final racing tomorrow morning for Stanford at 8 a.m.
Stanford will look to claim its fifth straight IRA team championship tomorrow when its three boats chase individual titles at Lake Natoma.
