STANFORD, Calif. – Jordan Morris is among 19 additional senior players summoned to training camp in Annapolis, Md. for the U.S. Men's National Team's match against Jamaica on Wednesday evening.
There are now 28 players that will train in advance of the game against Jamaica on June 5 at Audi Field in Washington, D.C., a rematch of the 2017 Concacaf Gold Cup final. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. PT on FS1, UniMas and UDN. The final list of 23 players for the Gold Cup is due by midnight of June 5. The official announcement will take place the following day.
The camp at the US Naval Academy began on May 26 and included both senior team members along with a number of U-23 internationals, including Stanford redshirt freshman goalkeeper Andrew Thomas. On Saturday, 11 members of that combined preparation camp – a mix of senior team and U-23 players, including Thomas – departed to make way for Morris and others.
Following the Jamaica game, the MNT will head to Cincinnati and face Venezuela on June 9 in its final preparation match for the 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup.
Morris scored the game winner in the 88th minute to propel the U.S. men's national team to its sixth CONCACAF Gold Cup title with a 2-1 victory over Jamaica on July 26, 2017. The strike capped a banner year and a half for the former Stanford All-American, who won championships at the collegiate, professional and international levels in the span of 18 months.
The Seattle Sounders forward was the only U.S. player to appear in all six matches of the 2017 Gold Cup. Morris led the United States with three goals throughout the event and had his first brace for the USMNT in a 3-2 win over Martinique on July 12, 2017.
Morris, who missed the entirety of the 2018 MLS season after tearing his ACL in the first leg of the CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinals in El Salvador in Feb. 2018, has scored four times for Seattle in 2019.
In 27 career caps for the United States, Morris has started nine times and scored five goals.
