Women's Golf

Dobashi at Palmer Cup

Stanford Women's Golf Associate Head Coach Lauren Dobashi will serve as an assistant coach for the United States at this weekend's Arnold Palmer Cup in Roland, Arkansas at The Alotian Club. Dobashi, who recently wrapped up her sixth season as an assistant coach for the Cardinal, helped Stanford to match play at NCAA Championships for the fifth consecutive season this year.

Since 1997, this international Ryder Cup-style collegiate event has enriched the lives of youth through the universal bond of the game of golf. The festivities began on Tuesday with community service and other events before the competition starts on Friday with 12 groups of Mixed Fourball matches. On Saturday morning there will be 12 more groups of Mixed Foursome matches while the afternoon will feature Foursome matches. On Sunday, the event concludes, with a champion crowned, following 24 head-to-head matches. The teams consist of 12 men and 12 women from each side.

Although none from Cardinal Women's Golf will compete in this year's event, both Andrea Lee (USA) and Albane Valenzuela (International) competed in last year's event. Men's Golf's Brandon Wu will compete for Team USA in 2019. Dobashi is one of four coaches for Team USA, and the only female. She will be joined on staff by Alabama's Mic Potter, Vanderbilt's Scott Limbaugh and Auburn's Corey Maggard.
