NAPLES, Italy - Rising sophomore Daria Lenz won two diving medals, including one in synchronized competition with rising sophomore Carolina Sculti, while recent graduate Ella Eastin won silver at the World University Games in Italy.
Lenz earned her first medal with a third-place finish on the 1-meter. She took home the bronze with a score of 244.25, and then earned another bronze with her Cardinal teammate in the synchronized 3-meter event. The duo earned a spot on the podium with a score of 274.20.
Lenz was also fifth with Jacob Siler in the mixed team event as the pair combined for a score of 328.45, and Sculti added a ninth-place finish on the 3-meter with her score of 267.25.
Ella Eastin added to her trophy case with a silver medal in the 200-meter individual medley. In the final, she was second with a time of 2:12.24, just behind Great Britain's Alicia Wilson's finish of 2:11.35.
Diving Head Coach Patrick Jeffrey and Associate Head Coach Tracy Slusser each served as head coaches for Team USA. Jeffrey led the Cardinal duo to a combined three medals, while the American swimmers totaled 21 total medals, including seven individual gold and all three relay golds.
Rising senior Megan Byrnes and rising sophomore Zoe Bartel also competed for the Cardinal. Byrnes made the finals in the 800 and 1,500 freestyles where she finished seventh in the 800 at 8:45.06, and eighth in the 1,500 at 16:44.81.
In March, this Cardinal quintet led Stanford to its third straight NCAA title with 456.5 points. The Cardinal, which also finished the regular season unbeaten for the fourth straight year and won its third straight Pac-12 championship, boasted 18 All-Americans at the NCAA Championships and became the first school to three-peat since 2002-04.
Next up for Stanford are the FINA World Championships in Gwanju, Korea. Several current and former Cardinal will be competing for their home countries beginning July 21.
