STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford was honored with 17 student-athletes named to the Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) All-Academic Team, more than any other program in the country and an increase from last year's total of 10 recipients.
To be eligible for IRA All-Academic recognition, a student-athlete must have maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.35 or higher, completed one full year at their institution (freshmen and first-year transfers are not eligible) and also competed at the 2019 IRA National Championship Regatta in West Windsor, New Jersey.
The Cardinal excelled in the classroom throughout the 2019 campaign. Headlined by 14 first-team selections, Stanford also placed 21 student-athletes on the Pac-12 All-Academic squads, marking the third straight year with at least 20 selections.
Stanford wrapped up the 2019 campaign at the IRA Championships, placing 10th overall as a team at the Lake Natoma course in Gold River, California.
