Card in National Pipeline

While Kelsey Bing is already competing for Team USA at the Pan American Games this week, two other Cardinal field hockey players are continuing to advance in the pipeline after being selected to national team camps which ultimately feed the U.S. Women's National Team.

Junior Corinne Zanolli was one of 140 athletes from across the United States who competed at the 2019 Young Women's National Championship from Spooky Nook Sports in Lancaster, Pa. in June. Following the conclusion of five days of competition, which featured the top female collegiate and post-collegiate field hockey players in the nation, Zanolli was selected for a spot at the Development Squad Selection Camp in December. Zanolli was named a Longstreth/NFHCA second-team All-American following a stellar second year with the Card in 2018. One year after earning America East Rookie of the Year honors as the Cardinal's leading goal scorer (15), Zanolli exploded offensively and nearly doubled that output with 26 goals, ranking second in the nation. Zanolli also contributed seven assists for 59 points while leading Stanford with 84 shots, 60 of which were on frame. Her 26 goals and 59 points set new program records for the Cardinal in a single season. Zanolli has a long history of competing for Team USA, including time spent on the U-17, U-19 and U-21 squads and has been selected for national team tours to Germany (U-21), Argentina (U-21), England (U-21), Germany (U-19) and Belgium (U-17).

Similarly, following the 2019 Young Women's National Championship (YWNC) and National Futures Championship (NFC) earlier this month, incoming freshman Megan Frost was selected for the U-21 Selection Camp. Frost, a native of Charlotte, N.C., was a member of the USFHA U-17 National Team and is a three-time Jr. National Camp and Selection Camp invitee. A prep star at Myers Park High School, Frost left high school as the all-time leader in goals (115) and assists (85) while guiding her team to three consecutive State Championships to close her career. A two-time high school All-American, she was named the Max Field Hockey North Carolina Player of the Year in 2017 and 2018.

The 2019 U-21 and Women's Development Team Selection Camp will take place in December at Spooky Nook Sports.
