The Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) named three Cardinal All-American Scholars on Monday morning. Student-athletes must maintain a 3.50 cumulative grade point average to be eligible. Mika Liu, Albane Valenzuela and Ziyi Wang were the three Cardinal honored by the WGCA. As a team, Stanford owns a 3.71 cumulative team GPA.
Liu, a native of Beverly Hills, Calif., just wrapped up her sophomore season with a 3.73 cumulative GPA. She finished the year with a 74.82 scoring average and had two Top 10 finishes. In addition to the WGCA's honor, Liu was named honorable mention Pac-12 All-Academic.
Valenzuela, a native of Geneva, Switzerland, owns a 4.02 GPA in political science. She recently wrapped up her junior season and became the first Cardinal to earn Pac-12 Women's Golfer of the Year honors. She was named a first team All-American and also earned Google Cloud CoSIDA first team Academic All-American honors.
Wang, a native of Beijing, China, owns a 3.85 GPA in history. She just completed her junior season with a scoring average of 74.81 and three Top 10 finishes. She was named honorable mention Pac-12 All-Academic in addition to the WGCA honors.
The Cardinal finished tied for fifth in 2019 at NCAA Championships, advancing to the NCAA's quarterfinal match play for the fifth straight season.
