Five Straight

STANFORD, Calif. – Makenzie Fischer and Maggie Steffens combined for 10 goals and the USA Women's National Team beat Canada, 24-4, to continue its run of dominance with a gold medal at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru.
 
The victory secured the United States its fifth consecutive Pan Am title and upped the Team USA's winning streak to 59 games.
 
Fischer scored six times in the final, Steffens added four, Jamie Neushul had a hat trick and Melissa Seidemann, Kiley Neushul and Aria Fischer each scored once. Stanford accounted for 16 of the U.S. goals in its gold-medal win and 84 of the team's 142 in its six victories in Lima.
 
The United States scored at least 20 goals in every win of its 6-0 run through the Pan Am Games, beating Puerto Rico (23-3), Brazil (20-4), Venezuela (23-3), Peru (21-3) and Cuba (31-7) before Saturday's championship against Canada.
 
Makenzie Fischer, last season's Cutino Award winner, led the way for the Cardinal contingent with 21 goals, including a five-goal performance in the semifinal prior to her six-score day against Canada. Maggie Steffens scored 15 and Aria Fischer and Jamie Neushul both had 14, while Melissa Seidemann scored 11 and Kiley Neushul nine.
