Cardinal Trio Finishes FINA Junior World Championship

STANFORD, Calif. – Sarah Klass, Ryann Neushul and the United States finished sixth and Floranne Carroll and Canada came in 10th at the recently concluded FINA Women's Junior World Championship in Funchal, Portugal.
 
Team USA put together a 3-2-1 overall record with wins over Australia, Hungary and China. Neushul tied for fourth at the event in goals scored (18) and third in goals per game (3.0). She scored in each one of the United States' six games and had a tournament-high five goals in a 16-10 victory over China on Sept. 14.
 
Klass contributed four goals, including two in the opener against Japan on Sept. 9, and tied for fifth with eight sprints won at the tournament.
 
Carroll was Canada's second-leading scorer, pouring in nine goals in six games. She had back-to-back hat tricks in games against New Zealand and Italy on Sept. 11 and 12. Canada went 2-4 with its wins coming against New Zealand and Brazil (Sept. 13).
