LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Third-ranked Stanford (9-1) grinded to pair of victories on Saturday to advance to the championship game in the SoCal Invitational.
In the morning, the Cardinal defeated No. 8 Long Beach State, 14-13, as Tyler Abramson and AJ Rossman netted four goals and three assists. In the evening semifinals, Stanford held off No. 4 Pacific, 15-14, behind six goals from Ben Hallock.
Andrew Chun made 13 saves against Pacific (8-1) in a tense match that saw Stanford lead 8-7 at the half and the teams deadlocked 12-12 after three quarters.
Stanford will face co-host and No. 2 UCLA (9-0) for the title on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Spieker Aquatics Center. The Bruins beat No. 1 UCSB in the semifinals, 9-8.
