EUGENE, Ore. – Senior Audriana Fitzmorris and freshman Kendall Kipp combined for 32 kills to lead No. 3 Stanford to a 21-25, 25-11, 25-19, 25-19 win over No. 25 Oregon, Friday, at Matthew Knight Arena.
Stanford (8-3) improved to 2-1 in the Pac-12, while Oregon (5-7) dropped to 1-2. The Cardinal out hit the Ducks, .296 to .156, and finished with 13.0 blocks and matched a season-high with seven aces.
Kipp started in place of senior outside hitter Kathryn Plummer, who was not in uniform Friday. Kipp tallied a career-high 16 kills on .306 hitting and matched her career-high with four blocks. Fitzmorris also recorded 16 kills on 30 swings with just on error to hit .500. The Overland Park, Kansas, native also registered a career-high nine digs.
Senior setter Jenna Gray controlled the offense with 47 assists to go with four kills, six digs, three blocks and an ace. Senior libero Morgan Hentz racked up 19 digs, while senior Caitlin Keefe, who played in the back row for Fitzmorris in a couple rotations, had a career-high 13 digs.
Junior outside hitter Meghan McClure had a slow start to the match, but picked up her offense and totaled 13 kills, nine digs, four blocks and two aces. Senior Madeleine Gates added eight kills and a match-best eight blocks, while Holly Campbell had four kills and four blocks.
Oregon was led by sophomore outside hitter Brooke Nuneviller, who posted 15 kills and a match-high 22 digs. Senior Ronika Stone chipped in with 12 kills on .346 hitting. Senior Willow Johnson also had 12 kills for the Ducks, but was held to .098 hitting.
Stanford has a quick turnaround, facing Oregon State on Saturday. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m. from Gil Coliseum.
