Stanford hosts Long Beach State on Tuesday in the second of back-to-back games against Big West opponents, following up Saturday's 70-54 victory over Cal State Fullerton.
Stanford is opening its season with six consecutive home games for the first time since 2006, when the Cardinal produced a 5-1 record during that stretch.
While it’s a small sample size, Stanford’s defense has been impressive through the first two games. The Cardinal is allowing 58.0 points while limiting opponents to 38.7 percent shooting overall and 38.7 percent from three-point territory. The Cardinal is also forcing 16.5 turnovers.
In a 70-54 win over Cal State Fullerton, Daejon Davis and Oscar da Silva scored 14 points to lead four players in double figures as Stanford shot 50.0 percent overall for the second straight game.
In a 73-62 win over Montana, Oscar da Silva produced his fifth career 20-point game as Stanford shot 50.0 percent overall while connecting on 7-11 from three-point range and 12-13 from the foul line.
The Cardinal has been picked 10th in the Pac-12 men’s basketball preseason poll, as voted on by media who cover the league.
Stanford embarked on a 10-day European tour from Aug. 18-28, visiting Italy, Germany and Switzerland as part of an educational and cultural experience that included four exhibition games.
