Halfway Through Homestand

  • The Cardinal is navigating through a stretch in which it plays six games in 16 days.
  • Stanford is opening its season with six consecutive home games for the first time since 2006, when the Cardinal produced a 5-1 record during that stretch.
  • Stanford is seeking its first 4-0 start since 2016, when the Cardinal beat Harvard, Cal State Northridge, Weber State and Colorado State during head coach Jerod Haase’s first season.
  • While it’s a small sample size, Stanford’s defense has been impressive through the first three games. The Cardinal has allowed 58.0 points while limiting opponents to 39.4 percent shooting overall and 27.7 percent from three-point territory. The Cardinal has also forced 17.3 turnovers per game, including a season-high 19 against Long Beach State on Wednesday.
  • Freshmen Tyrell Terry (13.0 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 4.3 apg) and Spencer Jones (10.0 ppg, 4.3 rpg) have provided a spark while combining for five starts. Terry leads the Cardinal with 13 assists and has sparked the offense from the point guard position. All 10 of Jones’ buckets have come from three-point range, where he is shooting a team-best 50 percent.
  • In an 86-58 win over Long Beach State, Jaiden Delaire scored a career-high 14 points (7-11 FG) and Tyrell Terry also had 14 points as the Cardinal shot 53.8 percent overall, including 10-23 from long distance and 6-7 from the foul line.
  • Stanford embarked on a 10-day European tour from Aug. 18-28, visiting Italy, Germany and Switzerland as part of an educational and cultural experience that included four exhibition games.
