STANFORD, Calif. - Competing at the 2019 Fall Pacific Coast Championship in Santa Barbara, Calif. last weekend, Stanford took second behind the host Gauchos with a team score of 78. UCSB finished with 63 points, while USC was third with 107.

The Cardinal was led by skipper Telis Athanasopoulos Yogo and crew Sammy Pickell, as the duo placed first in B Division. The pair finished in the top three in seven of the eight races, including winning the final two legs to outplace UCSB in that section.

Skipper Justin Lim and crew Patricia Gerli took second in C Division, while skipper Jacob Rosenberg and crew Abigail Tindall placed third in A Division.

Lim and Gerli won the seventh of the eight races in the third division, while also managing a pair of second-place finishes and two more third-place accolades.

UCSB and USC battled to first and second places in A Division, with the Gauchos securing the one-point, 18-19, advantage in the end. The Cardinal followed in third, as Rosenberg and Tindall collected four top-three finishes – including a second-place finish in the finale to record 33 points.

Stanford will now prepare for the final competition of the fall season – the Big Sail against California on Tuesday. The 16th-annual event is scheduled to run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is hosted by the St. Francis Yacht Club.
