STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford received the No. 7 seed in the NCAA tournament when the bracket was announced on Monday morning. It's the Cardinal's seventh straight appearance in the postseason and 18th overall.

The 48-team field has 16 seeded squads, of which the Cardinal is one, that receive byes into the second round. Stanford (13-2-3) will host the winner of LMU (11-5-3) and Seattle (14-3-4) at Cagan Stadium on Sunday, Nov. 24 at 5 p.m.

Tickets will go on sale at 9 a.m. on Tuesday by visiting gostanford.com/tickets or calling 800-STANFORD.

"We've had a tremendous season and been in every game," Knowles Family Director of Men's Soccer Jeremy Gunn said. "At times we've played fantastic, attacking soccer and other times we've been fighting our way through. In the latter part of the season it hasn't been easy, but because of that we are galvanized. We've been in tough, competitive games where it's on the line and it's tight. We're battle-tested and battle-ready."

The Cardinal is 28-13-7 all-time in the NCAA tournament and 15-3-4 at home, advancing on penalty kicks in three out of those four draws. Stanford is ranked No. 4 in the latest United Soccer Coaches poll and is No. 8 in the RPI, both released early last week. Its stretch of seven consecutive postseason berths is the longest in Stanford history, besting a six-year run from 1997 to 2002.

The nation's most successful collegiate men's soccer program over the last five seasons, Stanford has won three of the last four NCAA titles, five of the past six Pac-12 championships and posted an 90-16-21 (.791) overall record since 2014.

Stanford is one of just two programs to win three straight NCAA titles (2015-17). Virginia won four in a row from 1991-94. It is also one of seven to win at least three national championships along with Saint Louis (10), Indiana (8), Virginia (7), San Francisco (4), UCLA (4) and Maryland (4).

"The most important thing is how you perform and execute on the day," Gunn added. "But there's no doubt the experience we have as a program helps because the players have been in that environment before."

Stanford finished its regular season 13-2-3 overall and 6-2-2 in conference. The Cardinal is 51-8-11 in its last 70 matches at home.
