Another Stellar Class

Stanford head coach Thom Glielmi announced the signing of three standout gymnasts to National Letters of Intent during last week's signing period.

Stanford's stellar class, ranked No. 2 in CGA's list of the top recruiting classes of 2020, features Jeremy Bischoff (Santa Clarita, Calif./Wallers GymJam Academy), Brandon Nguyen (Elk Grove, Calif./Elevate Gymnastics Academy) and Colt Walker (Cedar Park, Texas/Acrotex Gymnastics).

All three recruits rank in the top 15 on CGA's recruiting list for 2020, including the top-ranked recruit in Walker. Nguyen is ranked No. 9, while Bischoff checks in at No. 11.

"It's great to see top junior gymnasts doing the work academically to be viable candidates for admission," Glielmi said. "Many top junior level athletes don't start thinking about what university they'd like to attend until their senior year in high school, and for many that can be too late to start pushing their academics. It's rare to have three gymnasts of this caliber in one class. They all are capable of making an immediate impact on every event. That is a unique component this class brings, and we could not be happier about it. Brandon, Jeremy and Colt have positioned themselves well to not only have tremendous collegiate careers, but to challenge for spots on the senior national team."

BISCHOFF ON STANFORD
"I chose Stanford because it is a phenomenal school with a beautiful campus and amazing weather year-round, which just adds to the unrivaled learning environment. Stanford has a great gymnastics coaching staff and a top-notch NCAA winning team that will push me to be the best I can and help me reach my goals of the Senior National Team, World Championships, Olympics, and an NCAA Championship. The school will provide me with the education needed to excel in my career and the incredible students and professors at the university will inspire me to succeed in all areas of my life."

GLIELMI ON BISCHOFF
"It was so good to see Jeremy back in top form this past year. In previous years, injuries had held him back, but Jeremy's return this year resulted in him garnering a spot on the USA Junior National Team. This speaks volumes to his work ethic and focus. I think he will surprise a lot of the team when he challenges the event line-ups. Our entire program is elated he chose Stanford to continue his education and gymnastics career."

NGUYEN ON STANFORD
"I chose Stanford because it felt like home for me. The welcoming team, the great coaching staff, and the extraordinary culture of Stanford all helped me realize that Stanford was the right place for me."

GLIELMI ON NGUYEN
"Brandon has tremendous difficulty and brings big gymnastics. He has always competed big routines, but not everyone sees the repertoire of skills he trains. As a result, as his consistency continues to improve, and he debuts those skills that set him apart, he will be tough to catch. He has always impressed with his aggressive approach, and will likely become a fan favorite. His full send training style will certainly be noticed by the team, and we are ecstatic Brandon will be joining the Stanford family."

WALKER ON STANFORD
"I chose Stanford due to the university's unparalleled mix of academics and quality gymnastics. I believe that the Cardinal attitude will help me excel in both my gymnastics aspirations as well as my life after the sport."

GLIELMI ON WALKER
"Colt is a tremendous add to the team. Finishing first at the USA Championships had him on the top of many recruiting lists. But what has impressed me is his extraordinary progress in the past two years as a USA Junior National Team member. He has exceptional power and I anticipate he will seamlessly transition to the senior ranks. Colt fits very well within the program -- his work ethic and tenacity are on point with the team."
