Streak Snapped

LOS ANGELES – No. 1 Stanford saw its 10-match winning snapped 9-8 on Saturday afternoon against No. 7 USC at the Uytengsu Aquatics Center.

Stanford's only other defeat this season came at home against No. 2 UC Santa Barbara, 15-10, on Sept. 20.

In the first MPSF matchup of the season, the Cardinal (15-2) outshot the Trojans (10-4), 39-26 (.205), but fell victim to good defense and posts against physical and fired-up USC on Senior Day. Goalie Nic Porter recorded 20 saves for the Trojans, who held Stanford to a season-low in goals and trailed only once, 1-0.

Junior Tyler Abramson kept the Cardinal within striking distance by scoring four goals and senior Bennett Williams added two.

Senior Andrew Chun made 11 saves for Stanford.

The Cardinal returns home to host No. 9 Cal next Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Avery Aquatic Center.
