Al Attles Classic Next

  • Stanford battles San Diego at Saturday afternoon at the Chase Center in San Francisco, representing the first of four games at the Al Attles Classic.
  • Stanford is off to its best start since 2011, when the Cardinal also won 10 of its first 11 games. The Cardinal’s seven-game winning streak to begin the season was its longest since a 10-0 start in 2008. Last season, Stanford won its 10th game on Jan. 26 and 11th game on Feb. 3.
  • Stanford debuted at No. 9 in the first edition of the NCAA’s NET rankings that were released on Monday. As of Friday morning, the Cardinal had dropped one spot to No. 10. Stanford’s only loss of the season was a 68-67 neutral-site setback to Butler, which checks at No. 4. Meanwhile, Stanford’s next opponent is Kansas, which has since moved up to No. 1.
  • Stanford has held all 11 opponents to under 70 points, representing the first time the Cardinal has accomplished the feat since a 13-game stretch from Nov. 12, 1999-Jan. 13, 2000. Stanford has allowed 57.5 points per game, a total which leads the Pac-12 and ranks 12th in the country. The Cardinal has also limited opponents to 38.7 percent shooting overall and 29.6 percent from three-point range while forcing 16.5 turnovers per game.
  • Nine of Stanford’s 10 victories have come by double digits, including four 20-point wins and a season-best 31-point rout of William & Mary on Nov. 21.
