CoSIDA Academic All-America Teams Opens in a new window

STANFORD, Calif. – Catarina Macario and Madison Haley were named Academic All-America by the College Sports Information Directors Association, as announced Thursday.

The duo pushes Stanford's all-time tally of CoSIDA Academic All-Americans to 10, joining the likes of Alana Cook (2018), Michelle Xiao (2017), Maddie Bauer (2016), Taylor Uhl (2014), Teresa Noyola (2010-11), Christen Press (2010), Kira Maker (2010) and Kelley O'hara (2009).

Macario and Haley helped Stanford win its unprecedented fifth-consecutive Pac-12 championship this season en route to the Cardinal's 10th appearance in the College Cup. The top-ranked Cardinal takes on No. 7 UCLA in the College Cup semifinal at 6:30 p.m. PT on ESPNU. Of the four teams competing at the College Cup, Stanford was the only program with a single Academic All-American.

Macario, a communication major who carries a 3.79 grade-point average, was named to the second team and is the favorite to win her second-consecutive MAC Hermann Trophy, which is annually awarded to the best player in college soccer. Macario leads the NCAA and has set the program's single-season record in goals (32), assists (23) and points (87) – her 87-point total is the third-most in NCAA history behind Mia Hamm (98) and Christine Sinclair (88).

Haley, who majors in science, technology & society with a 3.73 GPA, earned a berth on the third team. A first-team All-Pac-12 honoree, Haley ranks second on the team in assists (12), third in goals (110 and third in points (34).
