STANFORD, Calif. - No. 3 Stanford shifts its attention to this weekend's Pac-12 Championships in Gold River, California, scheduled for Sunday, May 19 at Lake Natoma.
Stanford placed third as a team in last year's event, producing a second-place effort in the varsity eight, along with three third-place finishes. The Cardinal totaled 35.5 points in taking home the bronze, finishing a half-point behind runner-up California.
The Pac-12 Championships features both the men's and women's programs, with competition in the varsity four, novice/freshman eight, and the first, second and third varsity eight finals (there are no heats or semifinals – only championship finals).
The event figures to be competitive once again, led by the country's top three teams in No. 1 Washington and No. 2 California.
Stanford is seeking its first Pac-12 title as a team since 2014, as the varsity eight also captured the top spot that year. The Cardinal produced a runner-up finish in 2016.
Pac-12 Networks coverage of the event will debut in two 30-minute episodes on Wednesday, May 22 at 7 p.m. PT. The men's races will air first, followed by the women's races.
After this weekend, Stanford will compete at the NCAA Championships on May 31-June 1 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
