STANFORD, CALIF. – Stanford was selected No. 20 in the IWLCA Preseason Coaches' Poll on Monday.
The Cardinal finished last season ranked No. 23 after reaching the NCAA Tournament for the second straight year and eighth time in the last 10 seasons. The Cardinal finished 2019 with a 13-6 overall record and was 7-3 in Pac-12 play.
Stanford is one of three Pac-12 teams in the top 25, joined by No. 16 USC and No 18. Colorado. Stanford is scheduled to play six teams in the top 25, including No. 3 Northwestern, the alma mater of new head coach Danielle Spencer.
The Cardinal is led by junior Ali Baiocco, who was named a Preseason All-America Honorable Mention candidate last week by Inside Lacrosse. Baiocco led the team in goals (52), assists (28), shots (114) and points (80) last season.
The Cardinal opens its season on Saturday, Feb. 8 when it visits No. 10 Denver.
