NOTABLES
  • The Stanford women’s rowing team begins its spring season on Saturday with a home dual against Oregon State at Redwood Shores, at the Arrillaga Family Rowing and Sailing Center.
  • The schedule: 9 a.m., Varsity 8; 9:10 a.m., Second Varsity 8; 9:20 a.m., First Varsity 4; 9:30 a.m., Second Varsity 4.
  • Stanford is ranked No. 2 in the CRCA/USRowing Top 20 and Oregon State is on top of the list of others receiving votes.
  • This will be the first opportunity to see how the Cardinal can do against Pac-12 competition. After this regatta, the Cardinal will train for three more weeks before hosting the Pac-12 Invitational, also at Redwood Shores.
  • Stanford had one official competition in the fall, repeating as collegiate champion of the Championship Eights at the Head of the Charles Regatta on the Charles River on Oct. 20.
  • The Cardinal placed third overall to a pair of USRowing boats, Stanford finished the three-mile course in 15:24.784, more than four seconds ahead of Yale for the collegiate crown and nearly 19 seconds behind the top  U.S. boat with essentially the same personnel who raced in this summer's World Championships.
  • In the Championship Fours at the Head of the Charles, Stanford was third overall and third among collegians, clocking 17:46.662.
  • At the 2019 Pac-12 Championships, Stanford was second and Oregon State fifth.
  • This is a rematch of a 2019 dual on the same course. Stanford won all four races.
