Victory at St. Mary’s

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – Stanford sailing added its second victory of the spring season, winning the St. Mary's Team Race over the weekend. The Cardinal also picked up a second-place result at the Navy Women's Interconference, and a fourth-place finish at the Rudkin Team Race.
 
The Cardinal went 14-3 at the St. Mary's team race en route to the title, besting Navy in a tiebreaker based on head-to-head results. Jacob Rosenberg, Jack Parkin and Wiley Rogers skippered the Stanford vessels, while Sammy Pickell, Taylor Kirkpatrick and Camille White served as crews. The team went 8-1 in round one before a 3-2 showing in the top six. Advancing to the final four, Stanford went 3-0 to claim the regatta.
 
Stephanie Houck, Christina Sakellaris and Hallie Schiffman skippered dinghies at Navy, while Ashton Borcherding, AnaClare Sole and Laurel Foster were crews. The Cardinal finished in second place with 155 points, just 20 behind first place Charleston. The group tallied five race victories overall, and led for nearly half the regatta as a team.
 
The Cardinal wrapped up the weekend at the Rudkin Team Race, hosted by Roger Williams, going 12-12 for a fourth-place finish. Skippers for the regatta included Michelle Lahrkamp, Telis Athanasopoulos Yogo, Justin Lim and John Kirkpatrick, while crews were Abigail Tindall, Mathew Hogan and Patricia Gerli. The Cardinal closed the event with a 3-3 mark in round four.
 
The Cardinal returns to the water March 21-22 with the Women's Bryson Trophy, hosted by Stanford in Redwood City.
