2020: Year in Review

STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford synchronized swimming had earned a trip to Collegiate Nationals before its season was shortened due to the COVID-19 global pandemic. Stanford finished the season with a 4-1 overall record.

The Cardinal opened the season by facing Wheaton (Mass.), first defeating the Lyons 102-71 at Avery Aquatic Center and again on the road the following weekend. In both meets, the Cardinal won all events in which it competed.

Stanford's only loss of the year came when it traveled to Gainesville, Fla. to face University of Florida, Incarnate Word, and Lindenwood University. Stanford finished second and narrowly missed first place by just 3.0 points.

In its final regular season meet of the season, Stanford welcomed Incarnate Word and Colorado State to The Farm. Before the meet began, Stanford honored its three seniors, Natalie Fletcher, Karen Li and Lily Randhawa, for all their contributions to the program. The Cardinal edged out Incarnate Word by 2.4333 points to secure the win on Senior Day.

Stanford traveled to Mesa, Ariz. to compete at Western Regionals, where it claimed first place and earned an opportunity to compete in Collegiate Nationals. The Cardinal amassed 102.0 points, ahead of University of Arizona (81.0) and Northern Arizona University (55.0).

Stanford had its sights on a national championship after finishing a close second to defending national champion Ohio State in 2019, but never had the chance to compete after the season was shortened due to the COVID-19 global pandemic.

Would have loved to compete together one last time, but grateful for this team and the memories we made together. #GoStanford
