Grad Transfer Sanders Joins Cardinal

Isaiah SandersSTANFORD, Calif. – Bradford M. Freeman Director of Football David Shaw announced the addition of graduate transfer quarterback Isaiah Sanders on Wednesday. Sanders, a native of Aurora, Colo., will have one year of eligibility remaining and has been accepted into the Management Science and Engineering masters program. He graduated from Air Force with a degree in Systems Engineering (with a Human Factors Focus) and a minor in Spanish.

"We are excited about the addition of Isaiah Sanders because of his experience, his abilities and his character," Shaw said. "Isaiah will add depth and competition behind Davis Mills and will be a great addition to our locker room."

Over three seasons at Air Force, Sanders played in 16 games and made six starts. He totaled 13 touchdowns (nine rushing, four passing) and 1,709 total yards (953 passing, 756 rushing).

"Stanford has been a dream of mine since I was a kid and I'm blessed and honored to join the elite scholars, athletes and world-changers that attend this amazing institution," Sanders said. "I believe Stanford is one of the best places to cultivate and guide my passions for serving my communities and giving back to the people around me."

In 2019, he was a member of the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, a finalist for the Jason Witten Man of the Year Award and Wuerffel Trophy and a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy. He is an active member of the community, coordinating and participating in fixing up a local childcare organization's playground, while serving as a vice president of a non-profit organization that creates positive change in the community. He was also the cadet-in-charge of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes group at the Air Force Academy.

Sanders, who is just Stanford's second graduate transfer in program history, and the first since Houston Texans' outside linebacker Brennan Scarlett in 2015, will wear No. 0 for the Cardinal in 2020.
