Washington State Next

  • Stanford and Washington State link up on Saturday night for Stanford’s first edition of #Pac12AfterDark in 2020. The Cardinal is 49-19 in night games under David Shaw.
  • True sophomore running backs Nathaniel Peat (286) and Austin Jones (179) are Stanford’s top two in terms of all-purpose yards through the first two games.
  • Stanford’s three defensive captains are its three leading tacklers through two games. ILB Curtis Robinson has 14, while FS Malik Antoine and DE Thomas Booker each have 11.
  • A week after missing all four field goals, fifth-year kicker Jet Toner was back to the player Cardinal fans have come to know. On Saturday against Colorado, Toner was 3-for-3 with makes from 28, 33 and 48 yards.
  • Eleven Cardinal have made their first career appearances so far this season: WR Colby Bowman, RB Casey Filkins, OT Myles Hinton, WR John Humphreys, K Joshua Karty, QB Tanner McKee, LS Bailey Parsons, LS Kyle Petrucci, CB Omari Porter, CB Salim Turner-Muhammad and TE Benjamin Yurosek.
  • In Saturday’s game, Davis Mills was 31-of-56 passing for 327 yards and one touchdown. He also added his first career rushing touchdown. Mills’ 327 yards passing were the second-most in his career. His 31 completions were just outside the Top 10 for a single game in school history while his 56 attempts were tied for fifth-most. In last season’s game at Washington State, Mills set the school record for passing with 504 yards. He was 33-of-50, both career highs, while his three touchdowns tied a career high.
  • No unit was hit harder by injuries in 2019 than Stanford’s offensive line, but the experience gained by a slew of true freshmen last season has proven valuable early in 2020. The Cardinal rushed for 197 yards at Oregon. Stanford’s season high during the 2019 season was 189 yards vs. Washington. Through two games, the Cardinal has allowed just one sack. The 0.5 sacks per game allowed are sixth-best in the country.
  • Fifth-year tight end Scooter Harrington caught his first career touchdown pass on Saturday. He finished the game with two catches for 18 yards. He entered the game having made 10 career catches for 52 yards. Saturday was Harrington’s 38th career game.
