Non-Conference Slate Unveiled

STANFORD, Calif. – Set to tip off on November 25 on the opening day of the college basketball season, Stanford men's basketball has announced four home non-conference clashes to go along with the previously announced Maui Invitational, held this season in Asheville, North Carolina.

"We are excited to have put together a competitive schedule this year," said Jerod Haase, the Anne and Tony Joseph Director of Men's Basketball. "There were obvious challenges with completing this, but we are excited to face off against many high quality opponents at home and in the Maui Invitational."

Stanford will open the non-conference slate with Utah Valley on Wednesday, Nov. 25, a homecoming for Cardinal legend and UVU head coach Mark Madsen. The bout with the Wolverines leads into the Maui Invitational, held Nov. 30-Dec. 2 at Asheville, North Carolina's Harrah's Cherokee Center. Stanford opens the event against Alabama on Nov. 30 at 9:30 p.m., and the entire tournament will be broadcast on ESPN, ESPN2 or ESPNU.

Three home games wrap up the non-conference schedule, with Cal Poly (Dec. 7), Loyola Marymount (Dec. 9) and Sacramento State (Dec. 21) each visiting Maples Pavilion to close 2020.

Game times, as well as the complete Pac-12 schedule, will be announced in the coming weeks.

Stanford enters the 2020-21 season on the heels of its first 20-win campaign since 2014-15. One of the top defensive teams in the nation a year ago, the Cardinal returns four of five starters and adds an ESPN top-10 recruiting class.
