Cardinal Wraps Regular Season

BERKELEY, Calif. – Stanford men's swimming and diving rounded out the regular season on Friday, competing in the Big Splash against No. 2 Cal. The Golden Bears won by a final score of 167.5 to 130.5.
 
The Cardinal posted wins in the 100 and 200 fly, 1- and 3-meter diving, 100 free and 200 breast.
 
Alex Liang posted Stanford's first win of the day, winning the 200 fly in 1:42.65. Jonathan Affeld won the 100 free with a B standard time of 43.05 for the Cardinal, while Daniel Roy's winning time in the 200 breast was 1:52.20 was also a B standard. Roy also hit a provisional mark in the 100 breast (52.94). Ethan Hu won the 100 fly in 45.93.
 
Conor Casey won the 1-meter diving with a score of 373.58, while Noah Vigran won the 3-meter event with a score of 431.18. Stanford finished 1-2-3 in both diving events, with Casey finishing behind Vigran in the 3-meter and Vigran finishing runner-up in the 1-meter. Hunter Hollenbeck finished third in both events.
 
Stanford swam 20 total B standards during Friday's meet, with a provisional mark in the 400 free relay, too. Leon MacAllister hit marks in both the 100 back (47.46) and 200 back (1:43.33), while Grant Shoults did so in the 200 free (1:34.84) and 500 free (4:17.71) as well as on the third leg of the 400 free (2:52.40) relay team with Mason Gonzalez, Preston Forst and Luke Maurer. Maurer (100 free, 43.68 and 200 free; 1:33.99) and Forst (500 free; 4:17.73 and 200 fly; 1:42.83) also hit B standards individually in two events.

Ethan Dang hit two B standards, in both the 100 breast (53.55) and 200 breast (1:56.05) as did Jonathan Cook in both events (53.84 and 1:56.26, respectively). Shane Blinkman was the final Cardinal to hit B standards in multiple events, as he did so in the 100 back (47.71) and 200 IM (1:45.70). Alex Liang hit a B standard in the 200 fly (1:42.65) and Alex Buratto did so in the 200 back (1:43.85) to round out the marks for the Card.
 
Next up, Stanford competes in the Pac-12 Diving Championships in Tucson, Ariz. Feb. 24-27 and Pac-12 Swimming Championships in Houston, Texas Feb. 28-March 3.
