Donaghu Rewarded Again

STANFORD, Calif. -- Stanford fifth-year senior Ella Donaghu was named NCAA Division I Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week for the second time this season by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

Donaghu was honored after winning the UNLV Battle Born Collegiate Challenge on Friday in North Las Vegas, Nevada, against a field that included six teams ranked among the top 16 in the coaches' poll. Donaghu was clocked in 19:44.0 over 6-kilometers (3.73 miles) and finished ahead of teammate and runner-up Zofia Dudek by 4.9 seconds.

Donaghu is two for two this cross country season in national weekly honors, after being rewarded for her performance in winning the Florida State Winter Classic in Tallahassee two weeks earlier.

The Stanford women placed second in both races this season and next compete at the Pac-12 Championships in University Place, Washington, on March 5. Donaghu was the Pac-12 runner-up last season while helping the Cardinal to the conference title.
