Fourth Place at Thompson Trophy

NEW LONDON, Conn. – Sailing for the second weekend in its abbreviated season, Stanford collected fourth place at the Thompson Trophy. The weekend also included a heads-up victory over Connecticut College in the Camel Fleet Race Invitational.

Stanford trailed Roger Williams, Coast Guard and Rhode Island in the regatta, with its A-boat finishing third in its division with 41 points, skippered by Telis Athanasopoulos Yogo and crewed by AnaClare Sole. The B-division boat was sailed by Hannah Freeman and Marta Munte, taking fourth with 71 points. Athanasopoulos Yogo and Sole won two of their 10 races, and finished in the top-five six times, while Freeman and Munte posted one win and five top-fives.

The Cardinal sailed a second boat in the regatta that finished 12th. Berta Puig and Gwendolyn Donahue sailed in the A-division, while Grace Austin and Laurel Foster handled the B-division. The two boats each posted two top-five races, and combined for seven top-10s.

Stanford finished with the top-two teams at the Camel Fleet Race Invitational, which was a heads-up regatta against five teams from Connecticut College. Stanford's tandem of Freeman and Munte were perfect on the day, winning all seven races, while the pair of Athanasopoulos Yogo and Sole had four second-place results. A Stanford boat finished in first and second place in all seven races.

The Cardinal continues its season with the PCCSC Championships, hosted by Stanford from April 24-25.
