BERKELEY, Calif. – Stanford opened its 2021 campaign in dominant fashion, sweeping California for a victory at the annual Big Row regatta. The Cardinal won all five races on Saturday afternoon.
The varsity eight rolled to a time of 5:58, besting the Golden Bears top boat by seven seconds. The second varsity continued the momentum with a nine second victory of their own.
Posting the largest margin of victory on the afternoon, crossing the line in 6:39, the varsity four finished a full 15 seconds ahead of Cal. The third varsity tallied the most sizeable margin among the varsity eights, posting a 13-second triumph.
The fourth varsity was victorious to close the morning's events, topping a pair of California boats by four and eight seconds, respectively.
Stanford returns to action May 1 at USC.
