NOTABLES
  • Stanford beach volleyball is ranked No. 7 in the AVCA Beach Volleyball Poll this week, its highest ranking in program history. Stanford's previous highest ranking was No. 10, which it last occupied in the final poll of the 2014 season.
  • The reason for the ranking? How about a school-record, 13-match winning streak with four wins over Top 10 teams. The Cardinal last lost on Feb. 27 at UCLA, a team it will once again face this weekend at the Pac-12 North Invitational. The event is being hosted by Arizona State at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix.
  • During the 13-match winning streak, Stanford has defeated five ranked opponents, including four in the Top 10. Prior to this season, the Cardinal had never defeated two Top-10 programs in the same season. Stanford owns ranked wins over No. 5 Cal Poly, No. 6 Hawai'i, No. 8 Grand Canyon, No. 9 Cal, No. 14 Arizona and No. 16 Long Beach State this season.
  • This weekend in Phoenix, the Cardinal faces its toughest test yet as it's scheduled to play four ranked teams. Stanford is set to face No. 12 Arizona and No. 1 UCLA on Saturday before taking on No. 2 USC and No. 11 Cal on Sunday.
