Fayetteville Bound

STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford softball was selected for the NCAA tournament for the 18th time in program history, earning the No. 2 seed in the Fayetteville Regional. The Cardinal will be joined in the regional by host No. 6 Arkansas and South Dakota State Manhattan.

Stanford will open the regional against South Dakota State on Friday, with first pitch at 12:30 p.m. PT.

This is the second-consecutive postseason appearance for Stanford after the NCAA canceled last spring's tournament amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Cardinal wrapped up the regular season this weekend with an overall weekend split against No. 5 Washington. Stanford is 31-20 on the season and 9-12 in Pac-12 play, picking up its most Pac-12 wins since the 2013 campaign won 13 games, despite the series against California (April 16-18) being canceled.

Five players were selected to the All Pac-12 teams earlier in the day, led by Alana Vawter landing on the first and all-freshmen teams. Taylor Gindlesperger was named to the second team, Teaghan Cowles and Emily Young to the third team, and Montana Dixon to the all-defensive team.

The Fayetteville Regional will run from May 21-23.
