GOLD RIVER, Calif. – The varsity four earned its first Pac-12 title since 2014, and Stanford women's rowing took second overall at the Pac-12 Championships on Sunday at Lake Natoma.
The varsity four posted a wire-to-wire victory, earning just the second conference triumph in program history in the category. The Cardinal doubled its advantage over the final 500 meters to win by 12 seconds over Washington.
The varsity eight finished second for the sixth year in a row, crossing the line with a time of 6:37.797, 2.8 seconds behind Washington for first. The crew posted the fastest split during the second 500 meters, but the Huskies responded to close out the win.
The second and third varsity eights each posted second-place results of their own, finishing with times of 6:38.644 and 6:54.179, respectively.
Grace McGinley was honored in the medal ceremony at the end of the regatta as the Pac-12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
The NCAA selection show is set for May 18, and the NCAA Championships will run from May 28-30 in Sarasota, Florida.
