Another Record-Setting Day

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - Stanford's women's golf owns a commanding lead at Grayhawk Golf Club following an NCAA Championships school-record 11-under 277 on Sunday. With one round to play before the field is cut to eight for match play, the Cardinal leads second-place Duke (+2) by 20 strokes and sits at 18-under.

"I'm just really impressed by this team, it's amazing what they did today," Margot and Mitch Milias Director of Women's Golf Anne Walker said. "To be their coach, I'm in awe of the way they're handling themselves and the way they're handling this golf course."

Sophomore Angelina Ye was the star on Sunday, tallying eight birdies, an eagle and two bogeys en route to a collegiate-best 7-under 65. Her 65 matched Andrea Lee's 65 at the 2018 NCAA Championships for the best individual round at nationals in school history.

"I just hit the ball really, really well today," Ye said. "I had so many good birdie chances and I was able to convert. I think today was really important for me to just keep focusing on the right things and didn't let it get away from me by focusing on my score."

Ye, after starting the week with five straight bogeys, has gone 10-under over her last 49 holes to move into solo second place at 5-under.

Ye only trails teammate Rachel Heck on the leaderboard. Heck sits at 10-under following a third-round 70 (-2).

"I think everything has just been solid, " Heck said. "We have a good game plan and have been smart — knowing when to go for it and knowing when to hit the fat part of the green. We just have a good strategy and are committed to that."

Heck's 70 snapped a streak of 12-straight collegiate rounds in the 60s. In the 61 days since she last failed to break 70 (March 28), Heck has won all four tournaments and qualified for the U.S. Women's Open at The Olympic Club.

Brooke Seay had another strong round on Sunday, tallying a 3-under 69 to move into a tie for sixth place at 1-under.

The Cardinal will tee off at 11:38 a.m. on Monday and play with Duke and Oklahoma State. Following Monday's round, the NCAA Individual Champion will be crowned and the top eight teams will advance to match play. Live coverage of the final round on GOLF Channel begins at 2 p.m.
