Men's Rowing

Athlete of the Year

SAN FRANCISCO – Junior Peter Chatain joined an elite group of Pac-12 rowers on Thursday, as he was named the Pac-12 Men's Rowing Athlete of the Year. Additionally, Chatain was a first team All-Pac-12 selection.

Chatain is Stanford's fourth recipient of the Athlete of the Year honor, joining Alex Osborne (2009) and Austin Hack (2013 and 2014). The award, as well as his All-Pac-12 selection, are the first in his career from the conference office.

After stroking the Cardinal in the opening regatta against Washington, Chatain has rowed in the six seat all season. His leadership was instrumental throughout an adversity-filled campaign, and he helped Stanford to a third-place result in the varsity eight at the Pac-12 Championships.

Earlier this winter, Chatain also set a program record for the 6k on the ergometer, and on Wednesday he was named to the USRowing Under-23 National Team Selection Camp.
