- Stanford and USC meet on Saturday night inside the LA Memorial Coliseum. Kickoff on Fox is set for 7:30 p.m.
- Saturday’s game marks the 100th all-time meeting between Stanford and USC. The Trojans are the Cardinal’s second-most played opponent behind Cal (123). It will be the sixth time in the last eight seasons that the Cardinal has met the Trojans in the second week of the season.
- For the first time since 1945, and the first season since 1924, Stanford and USC did not play in 2020 due to the abbreviated, COVID-affected campaign.
- Saturday marks the 20th anniversary of the tragic events on September 11, 2001. Since that date, Stanford has played just twice on 9/11. The Cardinal defeated BYU, 37-10, in 2004 and also won 35-0 at UCLA in 2010.
- Since Bradford M. Freeman Director of Football David Shaw took over, Stanford is 31-8 against programs from California, including 25-7 against Pac-12 foes from the state (Cal, UCLA, USC).
- Stanford is 27-20 against Top 25 foes under David Shaw and has defeated at least one Top-20 opponent on the road in seven of Shaw’s 10 seasons.
- Stanford and USC meet for the 100th time on the gridiron when the two schools square off Saturday night. USC owns a record of 63-33-3 against Stanford, but the Cardinal has won six of 11 against the Trojans under David Shaw. The Cardinal last won in the Coliseum in 2015, a 41-31 win.
- In 2007, Tavita Pritchard engineered one of the biggest upsets in college football history against No. 2 USC in the Los Angeles Coliseum. Making his first career start, Pritchard threw a 10-yard touchdown pass on fourth down to wide receiver Mark Bradford with 49 seconds remaining to lift the Cardinal to a 24-23 victory. The Trojans were favored by 41 points.
- Tucker Fisk, a fifth-year from Davis, Calif. will play both tight end and defensive end for the Cardinal in 2021. On Saturday against K-State, Fisk registered two tackles and his first career sack on 11 defensive snaps.
- Stanford is one of four Power Five schools with a Black head football coach (David Shaw) and athletic director (Bernard Muir), joined by Arizona State, Maryland and Michigan State.
- Senior WR Brycen Tremayne began his career as a walk-on and earned a scholarship prior to the 2019 season. Entering his senior season he is listed as WR1. On Saturday, Tremayne tallied a team-best five catches for 62 yards and a touchdown.
- Senior inside linebacker Ricky Miezan returned from injury and made his second career start on Saturday vs. K-State. Miezan was all over the field and led the Cardinal with a career-high eight tackles.
